Women’s Mental Health and Perimenopause and Menopause

For many women, this season of life brings unexpected emotional, physical, and identity changes. You may feel unlike yourself, overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, tearful, irritable, or disconnected. Understanding Perimenopause and Menopause

Perimenopause can begin years before menopause and is often marked by fluctuating hormones that affect mood, sleep, focus, energy, and emotional regulation. Many women are unprepared for how intense these changes can feel especially when they are also managing careers, relationships, caregiving, parenting, and aging parents.

• Increased anxiety or panic
• Low mood or mood swings
• Irritability and emotional sensitivity
• Brain fog, forgetfulness, or focus issues
• Sleep disruption and fatigue
• Loss of confidence or sense of self
• Changes in motivation, desire, and identity
