Meet Melinda

I am a Registered Social Worker providing ADHD-informed therapy to adults across Canada, with a special focus on women’s mental health, burnout, self-worth, and life transitions. I work virtually with clients in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta, Yukon, and Nunavut.

My work is grounded in the belief that people are not broken. Many are overwhelmed, exhausted, misunderstood, or carrying far more than they were ever meant to hold alone. Therapy is a space to slow down, make sense of your patterns, and develop practical tools to support meaningful change.

My Approach
My approach to therapy is practical, compassionate, and collaborative. I blend evidence-based methods with a human, down to earth style that helps you feel understood rather than analysed.

Our work together may include:
• ADHD informed strategies for focus, follow through, and emotional regulation
• Support for anxiety, burnout, and chronic overwhelm
• Boundary setting, communication, and self worth work
• Navigating midlife changes, identity shifts, and major transitions
• Trauma informed care that respects your pace and your nervous system

I aim to create a therapy space that feels safe, grounded, and empowering, not clinical, rushed, or intimidating.

My Areas of Focus
While I support adults with a wide range of concerns, my primary areas of focus include:
• ADHD in adults
• Anxiety and emotional overwhelm
• Burnout and chronic stress
• Women’s mental health
• Self-worth and people-pleasing patterns
• Relationship challenges and boundaries
• Parenting stress
• Life transitions and identity changes

Many of my clients come to therapy feeling like they should be coping “better” than they are. My role is to help you understand why things feel hard and to support you in creating change that feels sustainable and realistic.

Professional Background
I hold a Master of Social Work (MSW) and am a Registered Social Worker (RSW). I am licensed to provide therapy across multiple Canadian provinces and territories.

I bring a trauma informed, ADHD informed, and strengths based lens to my work. Ongoing professional development is a priority for me, particularly in the areas of ADHD, women’s mental health, anxiety, and nervous system regulation.

What Therapy Is Like With Me
Clients often describe working with me as:
• Supportive and validating
• Structured but flexible
• Insightful without being overwhelming
• Grounded in real life, not just theory

You do not need to have everything figured out before starting therapy. We begin exactly where you are.

A Personal Note
Like many of the people I work with, I understand what it is like to navigate pressure, responsibility, and change. I was diagnosed with ADHD later in life, which has deeply shaped both my personal understanding and my professional work. Experiencing the clarity, grief, validation, and adjustment that can come with a late diagnosis allows me to sit with clients in a very real and grounded way.

I know what it feels like to look back and reframe your life through a new lens. To recognize patterns that once felt like personal failures and understand them instead as part of how your brain works. This perspective informs my work every day and strengthens my belief that people are not broken they are often unsupported and misunderstood.

I believe deeply in the importance of pausing, reflecting, and reconnecting with yourself especially in seasons of overwhelm or transition. Therapy is not about fixing who you are. It is about helping you feel more steady, connected, and empowered in your life.
